| Since Vallombrosa was begun as a retreat
facility an important part of the ministry extended here is to
provide opportunities for the enrichment of the spiritual life of
our participants. Throughout the year, weekend retreats and days of
prayer and reflection are offered. The Program Director makes a
concerted effort to listen to the needs of retreatants and attempts
to provide programs that will meet those needs.
Among the more popular events is the annual New Year’s Eve
retreat when guests gather for dinner on
December 31st, have two conferences, followed by Mass at 11:00 pm
and a celebration at midnight. On January 1st after morning prayer
they gather for brunch and an early departure. So many have
commented that this is a fitting way to end one year and to bring in
the new.
The Program Director also works with parishes, both within and
outside the Archdiocese of San Francisco, to arrange for parish
retreats. So many participants in these have commented on the sense
of community and desire for service they experience after praying
with fellow parishioners for an extended period of time.
If you would like to organize a parish retreat, please contact
the Program Director at Vallombrosa Center. |
