" A Retreat for
Families and Friends of Alcoholics” |
August 29 - 31, 2008
|
|
Alcoholism is a family disease, and it takes a long and deep toll on those
who love alcoholics, work with alcoholics, are related to alcoholics, and
who have been on an emotional roller coaster with them. Whether the
alcoholic is one of our parents, or our spouse, or one of our children, we
need support and refreshment and recovery. This weekend will look at the
tools and treasures of Al-Anon. We will have some conversations, some
prayer, some quiet, and some time to rest and to share our experience,
strengths, and hope. Father Tom Weston, SJ, has lived in Oakland
since 1981. He has been an active member of the recovery community since
1976. He was ordained a priest in 1978, and is a reader, a gardener, a
member of the Jesuit Community, and does some pastoral work in Oakland. He
has also taught English as a Second Language in China, Thailand, Vietnam,
and Myanmar. |

" Our
Connections in this World" |
Sept 5 - 7, 2008 |
|
This weekend retreat we will take time to reawaken our human need to create
Connections, to welcome the Connections that clarify our path, to enjoy more
freely our Connections with the Divine and to appreciate Connections that
open for us new worlds as we create our lives. We will also move toward a
greater understanding of our capacity to disconnect, finding ways to heal
the pain of past disconnections, and to see that at times we may need to
reconnect. We will take time to listen, to reflect, to pray and to laugh as
we understand anew our ability to connect—with people, with nature, and with
so many secrets of our Grace-filled Universe. Well known for her workshops
and seminars, Ursula Caspary Frankel, MS, MFT, is a licensed
Marriage, Family, Child Therapist. She has served as a communication
consultant for various organizations and is a very popular presenter at
Vallombrosa. Joining Ursula will be her husband, playwright Jack
Frankel. |
